New Xbox Game Studio Announced
343 Industries to Develop Halo Games
Kirkland, WA-based Subsidiary Led by Former Bungie Employees
Xbox Game Studios has announced the formation of a new subsidiary, 343 Industries, which will be responsible for developing future Halo games. The studio is located in Kirkland, Washington, and is led by former Bungie employees who worked on the original Halo trilogy.
343 Industries is tasked with continuing the Halo franchise, which has sold over 60 million copies worldwide. The studio is currently working on Halo 4, which is scheduled to be released in 2012.
"We are excited to announce the formation of 343 Industries," said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. "This new studio will allow us to continue to develop the Halo franchise and bring it to new heights."
Jason Jones, the former creative director of Halo: Reach, will serve as the studio head of 343 Industries. Jones said that the studio is committed to creating "the best Halo games possible."
